
A MOTORCYCLIST has been killed in a tragic road crash in Askeaton, County Limerick.
The fatal crash took place last night (Wednesday) shortly before 8pm on the N69 at Cloonreask.
Gardaรญ said that the single-vehicle crash took the life of a motorcyclist in his 30s, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
โHis body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course,โ a Garda statement read.
The road remains closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators this Thursday morning and local diversions are in place.
In the wake of the tragic road death, Gardaรญ are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
โAny road users who may have camera footage (including dashcam) and were travelling on the N69 near Askeaton between 7.15pm and 8.15pm on Wednesday are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaรญ,โ Gardaรญ said.

Speaking last night, Fine Gael city councillor Adam Teskey said the surrounding community was โin total shock at the devastating events on the N69โ.
