The seizure was part of ongoing operations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the region. Gardaí attached to the Divisional Drugs Unit, supported by the Armed Support Unit, Dog Unit and members of Operation Croí carried out a number of searches in Castleconnell, County Limerick on Wednesday February 19.

Searches were carried out at seven homes. As a result, Cannabis Herb with an estimated street value of €10,000 was seized. Gardaí also seized approximately €6,925 in cash.

The drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.

The investigation is ongoing. This seizure forms part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris on July 2, 2021.

The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle, and prosecute drug trafficking networks at all levels—international, national, and local—involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale, and supply of controlled drugs.
