LIMERICK is set to have the largest padel tennis facility in Ireland when Padel LK opens its doors in January.

The state-of-the-art facility will open its doors in Ballysimon in January, and will have eight courts, a gym area with group classes, a retail space, and spectator areas.

Padel LK is the brainchild of Limerick entrepreneur Peter Brazil, who joined forces with Cian McNamara and Eimear McManus to bring the dream to life.

“We are incredibly excited to announce the launch of Padel LK. Padel is growing at a phenomenal rate worldwide, and we are proud to contribute to this exciting trend by creating a top-tier venue here in Limerick,” Padel LK managing director Peter Brazil said.

“Our mission is to build a strong, sustainable foundation for padel in Limerick and provide a space where people of all ages and skill levels can enjoy the sport,” he said.

Padel is a racket sport of Mexican-origin which blends tennis and squash, most commonly played in doubles on an indoor court.

The new Limerick facility will offer a range of amenities designed to cater to both casual and serious players including warm-up zones and a retail shop.

Padel LK will also offer racket rentals and lessons with qualified coaches to help players learn or enhance their padel skills.

It is understood the opening will create up to 10 new jobs for the local community.

Cian McNamara, co-investor in Padel LK, said that the facility aims to make the sport more accessible.

“Our mission is to make padel accessible to everyone, regardless of age or skill level. The beauty of padel is that it is a game that people can pick up quickly, and we can’t wait to bring it to the people of Limerick, Tipperary, Clare, and beyond.”

Eimear McManus, a passionate padel player and investor, added that she “fell in love with padel three years ago and I am thrilled that Limerick will now have such an incredible indoor facility”.

“It is a game that everyone can enjoy, and I am excited to be part of this journey.

Padel LK will open in January 2025. Court bookings can be made on the dedicated Padel LK mobile app, set to launch in the coming weeks.
