THE national meteorological service has issued a warning for the entire country ahead of a significant cold snap expected to land this evening.
Temperatures in Limerick are expected to hit -1 this evening as the cold front passes over the country.
Met Éireann has issued a nationwide Status Yellow low temperature and ice warning.
The meteorological services said very cold conditions with widespread frost and icy stretches can be expected, with “hazardous conditions on roads and paths” and “some travel disruption”.
The Status Yellow warning will be in place from this Tuesday evening at 8pm until 10am on Thursday morning.
Met Éireann warned of “significantly colder conditions” across this week, with “wintry hazards including frost and ice … with potential for sleet, snow, and hail for some”.
