A SUSPECTED burglar who had to be rescued by emergency services after he got stuck in a Limerick City chipper’s roof vent was charged in court this Thursday (November 7).

The man had to be saved by firefighters attached to Limerick City and County Fire Service, using a Bronto skylift, the previous morning (Wednesday November 6), having spent around 12 hours stuck in the vent above the business.

At Limerick District Court on Thursday, Gardaí charged Jamal Hashemi (41), with an address at Glenlara House, Mount Kennett Place, in Limerick City, with one count of burglary at Superbites fast food premises in Dooradoyle on November 6.

Judge Carol Anne Coolican granted Mr Hashemi bail, despite objections from Garda Thomas McMahon, instructed by Sergeant Denis Waters of Roxboro Road Garda Station.

Mr Hashemi was remanded on bail to appear before Limerick District Court for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions early next year on January 9.
