EVER-DETERMINED Croagh Kilfinny (CK) are the winners of the Nick Greene Intermediate Hurling Championship 2024.
Beaten in the last three finals, CK appeared firmly on course in Saturday’s decider against Bruree at a heaving Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale, ahead by six points nearing the close of normal-time.
However, in the closing stages Sam Cronolly snatched 1-2 to have the contest back in the melting pot.
In those hectic closing stages, James Hall’s charges survived 0-18 to 1-14.
For the winners, who were jointly captained by Denis Lenihan and James Lanigan, Cian O’Carroll (0-8) top-scored.
Earlier, Diarmuid Coleman struck the match-winning goal in stoppage time in a pulsating 3-16 to 2-16 victory for Feenagh Kilmeedy over St Patrick’s in the Woodlands Hotel Premier Junior Final at Seán Finn Park, Rathkeale.
Coleman emerged with a sensational 2-8 overall for a side coached by former county star Mark Keane (South Liberties).
In Bruff, Max Ivory struck a superb 1-9 as Monaleen won the Junior Championship for the first time in over 50 years at the expense of Rathkeale, 1-16 to 1-14.
The city team were captained by ageless full-back Damien Cosgrave.
