Council to significantly invest in northside amenity

The Council are to invest significantly in Grove Island.

LIMERICK City and County Council has announced that it is to invest significant funds in a northside amenity.

Grove Island Leisure Centre is set to receive a €1.85million boost from LCCC and operators Aura Leisure.

The Council is set to invest €1.5million, with Aura Leisure to contribute €350,000.

Aura Leisure will also remain as operators of the gym and swimming pool.

Opened in 2003, the centre features a 25-metre pool, sauna, steam room, gym, and hall area.

The funding boost will see facilities at the leisure centre improved and upgraded.

Mayor John Moran said that “places for exercise, especially in urban areas, are essential for a more liveable and healthier Limerick.  This much needed and overdue investment will pay dividends.”
