Coastal residents encouraged to get involved in fight against drug trafficking

COASTAL residents’ groups are being invited to send representatives to an event which aims to involve seaboard communities in the the fight against drug trafficking.

Gardaí are joining forces with the Naval Services and Customs and Excise for a ‘Coastal Watch’ event in Foynes Yacht Club on Saturday September 28 at 11 am.

The event aims to inform local people how they can help stop drugs coming in to the country by reporting suspicious activity.

“We have a limited space but we would ask local organisations and community groups to send one or two representatives,” Inspector Gearoid Thompson said.
