LOCAL Irish language network Comhluadar Luimnigh have announced an all-new festival, ‘Féile na Samhna 2023’, taking place from November 7 to 13.
The Irish language will be heard at events throughout the festival, including
a céilí and gathering in Bradshaws of Castleconnell, a lecture about the Irish language in Limerick from Rathkeale Historical Society, a book club and Ciorcal Comhrá na mBan in Castletroy, a kids club in Lisnagry, a musical book launch in Conradh na Gaeilge, a ciorcal comhrá at the Milk Market, nature walks in Murroe, pop-up Gaeltachts in JJ Bowles and Tom Collins, concerts by Seo Linn and the Brad Pitt Light Orchestra, a story exchange with Narrative 4, and an Irish language film ‘Tarrac’ (with subtitles) in the Belltable.
“Our vision is to bring people together, socially, through Irish,” says Ava Hadnett, Comhluadar Luimnigh’s Irish language Development Officer.
The eclectic nature of the festival is evidenced in the long list of festival partners which also includes Munster GAA, Foras na Gaeilge, Glór na nGael, Conradh na Gaeilge, Teanga Tí, Narrative 4, the Milk Market, Comhaltas Craobh Peig Uí Riain, Ahane GAA, Tom Collins, and JJ Bowles.
