FOUR historical buildings in Limerick have been awarded a combined €250,000 in government funding.
The funding comes as part of the Community Monuments Fund, which aims to provide support in protecting and maintaining archaeological monuments and buildings across the country.
€251,685, out of a nationwide funding tranche of €7.5million, was awarded to Croom Castle, Galbally Church, Glenogra Church, and Ballynoe Tower House.
€100,000 each was awarded to Croom Castle and Galbally Church, while Glenogra Church is to receive €21,685 and Ballynoe Tower House will get €30,000.
Welcoming the announcement, Limerick TD and Minister of State Niall Collins wished the local awardees “the best of luck in rolling out their projects”.
“It is hugely important that the maintenance of our archaeological heritage across the county is financially supported.”
