A VIBRANT gender-flipped retelling of Edmond Rostandโ€™s classic play Cyrano is set to take the stage at the Lime Tree Theatre from Wednesday April 30 to Friday May 2.

Presented by final-year Contemporary and Applied Theatre students from Mary Immaculate College, and directed by acclaimed theatre-maker Ann Blake, this production promises an evening of uplifting, life-affirming entertainment.

Adapted and completely reimagined by Australian playwright and television star Virginia Gay, Cyrano is a heartfelt tribute to hope, desire, language, and the lo-fi magic of live theatre.

Reimagining the classic tale with wit and vulnerability, Gayโ€™s adaptation celebrates the raw, lo-fi beauty of live performance, where imagination reigns and connection is everything. At its heart, Cyrano pulses with longingโ€”for love, for authenticity, for the courage to speak our truth. With sharp dialogue, aching romance, and a deep affection for words, this version reminds us that even in our most awkward, yearning moments, there is beautyโ€”and that theatre, at its best, lets us see ourselves with both clarity and compassion.
