Riverfest to get into full flow for May Bank Holiday

Riverfest 2025 takes place from May 2 to 5.

ONE of the most anticipated weekends in the Limerick calendar is just around the river bend, with Riverfest 2025 set to kick off on the May Bank Holiday Weekend.

There will be music, dancing, fashion, food, fireworks, and family-friendly fun galore as the annual festival gets underway on Shannonside.

โ€œFrom street parties to live concerts and a spectacular fireworks display, it promises to be an epic weekend in Limerick. Arrange for a night off, put on your dancing shoes, and make a date with Riverfest Limerick 2025,โ€ a statement from Limerick City and County Council said.

Included in this yearโ€™s Riverfest roster is the return of the popular Riverfestival Village, which will see Arthurโ€™s Quay Park transformed into a hub of food trucks, carnival rides, and live entertainment from Friday May 2 to Monday May 5.

The party doesnโ€™t stop there, with Riverfest Street Parties set to take place on Honanโ€™s Quay with live DJs from 6pm to 10pm, which the Council says promise an โ€œelectrifying atmosphereโ€.

Fashionfest is also to return, with style tips from Celia Holman Lee before a showcase from Limerickโ€™s top designers at Gardens International from 6pm on Friday May 2.

Another returning favourite, which always brings some added life to Limerickโ€™s riverside skyline, is the Panoramic Wheel, which will offer panoramic views from the Potato Market from April 25 to May 5.

Limerick will also be rocking with performances at King Johnโ€™s Castle across the weekend including David Gray, The Coronaโ€™s, and tribute band Qween.

The weekend will reach its climax on Sunday May 4 with an epic fireworks display in the city from 10.15pm.

As always, the fitness fanatics will have their mettle tested with the Regeneron Great Limerick Run on May 4, with hundreds of athletes set to descend on the city all with their eyes on the finish line.

Thereโ€™s plenty to keep the little ones busy too, with fun and games at the Hunt Museum gardens, the Whatโ€™s Watt Symmetry Circus, a live performance by Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Theatre of their โ€˜Dreaming Heartโ€™ show, and the Great Limerick Kidโ€™s Run for Fun in aid of Clionaโ€™s Foundation.

Also featuring across the weekend are the Adrenaline Freefall, the National All-Ireland BBQ Competition, and a mobile sensory unit at Sarsfield House from ASD Ireland providing an oasis from the city hustle and bustle with a sensory room for children and adults.
