THE LIMERICK Enterprise Development Partnership (LEDP) has taken on the challenge of planting 4,000 native Irish trees in Crecora, County Limerick.

The LEDP said the move is a response to its pledge of “embracing the UN Sustainable Development Goals”.

It plans to plant 27,000 trees in Limerick by 2027, offsetting over 4,000 tonnes of carbon emissions over the next 100 years.

To date, LEDP has planted over 18,000 trees including Pedunculate Oak, Scots Pine, and White Thorn.

Niall O’Callaghan, LEDP chief executive, said: “We believe that taking proactive steps to protect the environment is not just a responsibility, but an opportunity to make a lasting difference.

By planting trees, we are not only neutralising our carbon footprint but also giving back to the planet that sustains us.”
