A COUNTY Limerick father and son have been crowned champions at the World Amateur Golf Match Race in Dubai.
John and Eddie Ryan of Rathkeale, both members of Rathbane GC, won through the Ireland series to reach the starting tee of this prestigious global tournament, which attracted teams from over 30 countries.
The pair finished the four-round tournament on a magnificent 24-under par, four shots ahead of Leon Liang and Kang Peng of New Zealand, with both Austria and Canada three shots further back in joint third.
Action took place at Trump, Dubai Creek and Montgomerie courses.
The glitzy presentation ceremony took place at a Yacht Party on Dubai Marina.
“We came here as Ireland representatives and we have met some great friends, friends forever from so many different nationalities. What an experience,” commented Eddie Ryan.
