A LIMERICK film lab is putting out an open call for producers developing feature film projects.

Innovate Limerick has announced an international film co-production lab, bringing together film producers and companies from Ireland, Scotland, and Canada to collaborate, connect, and create in the heart of Limerick.

Taking place from July 7 at the Engine Collaboration Centre in Limerick City, the Limerick Film Lab will serve as a dynamic space for creative exchange, fostering business opportunities across borders and building lasting relationships between film producers from three culturally rich nations.

“We’re thrilled to invite established Scottish and Canadian producers to Limerick to connect with our emerging Irish-based producers,” said Paul C Ryan, regional film manager at Film in Limerick.

“With the Limerick region emerging as a second major film hub outside Dublin/Wicklow for Irish and international production, the time is right to further develop our regional producers, supporting them to work on a bigger stage with international partners and bigger budgets,” he said.

Hosted in collaboration with Screen Scotland, the national agency for film in Scotland, and Picture NL, the lead agency for film in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, the lab will have a focus on co-producing feature films in the west of Ireland and include case studies and keynote industry speakers, all focused on navigating international co-productions and developing high-quality feature films for the global film market.

The Limerick Film Lab is designed to encourage creative partnerships, with a particular focus on narrative feature film productions, organisers have said.

Participants will have the opportunity to take part in a series of workshops to stimulate creative partnerships, explore internationally focused business partnerships and gain insights into each country’s funding landscapes.

Participants will also attend a number of networking events on Shannonside.

The international delegation will take part in a tour day, visiting local companies and locations in the Mid West. Following the lab event, they will travel to Galway to take part in the annual Film Fleadh Forum and attend a Canadian Film Reception at the festival.

Applications are now open for Irish delegates to join. Applicant producers must have a feature film in active development and be based in the Mid West region or be outside of Dublin/Wicklow.

Further information and applications at [email protected] before April 30.
