GARDAÍ carrying out an anti-speeding operation over the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend stopped a driver in Limerick going 65km/h over the legal limit.
That’s according to a Garda statement following a nationwide Garda Roads Policing Operation from Thursday last (April 17) to this Tuesday morning (April 22).
Gardaí stopped a driver going 165km/h in a 100km/h zone under the operation on the N18 at Ballinacurra in Limerick City.
This comes as three road deaths were recorded over the Easter weekend, including the death of a motorcyclist in his 20s in a collision in Ardagh, County Limerick, on Monday.
2,800 drivers were detected for speeding offences over the weekend, including 225 mobile phone offences, 160 unaccompanied learner drivers, and 73 found not to be wearing seatbelts.
