OLI Jager has been ruled out of selection for Munster’s crucial URC outing away to Cardiff at The Arms Park on Friday (7.35pm).

The 29-year-old sustained a HIA (Head Injury Assessment) in the weekend loss against the Bulls.

Elsewhere, Stephen Archer is being assessed for a shoulder injury.

Diarmuid Kilgallen came through his return to action at the weekend with no issues.

Craig Casey (illness) and Peter O’Mahony (tight hamstring) were late withdrawals on Saturday.

Casey has returned to training and O’Mahony’s availability will be determined soon.

Gavin Coombes and Calvin Nash both returned to training after missing the Bulls clash due to ankle injuries.

The immediate availability of John Hodnett (toe) and Diarmuid Barron (shoulder/arm) is still unclear.

Mike Haley has started to reintegrate into squad training having been unavailable since January due to an ankle problem.

Continuing to recover are Jeremy Loughman (hamstring), Ethan Coughlan (hamstring), Billy Burns (shoulder), Shane Daly (hamstring), Dave Kilcoyne (Achilles), Liam Coombes (chest), Edwin Edogbo (Achilles), and Roman Salanoa (knee).

Special medals

Meanwhile, there is plenty of local representation among the 100 volunteers from across the country who will be honoured with a Special Recognition Medal ahead of the All-Ireland League Finals at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

The awards, to be presented by Rathkeale native and IRFU President Declan Madden (Garryowen FC), will celebrate and acknowledge those who have made a significant contribution to the development of the game in Ireland.

Included are Richie Feeney (Castletroy College), Ger Staunton (Thomond), Matty McCoy (Newcastle West), John Keane, posthumous, (UL Bohemian), Tony Grant (Young Munster), Dermot McGovern (Old Crescent), and Chris Cullinan (Crescent College).

Each province has 25 recipients, all nominated by clubs and schools.

2025 marks the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the IRFU.
