Zimbabwean-Irish rapper God Knows has announced his latest single, โThe Observerโ, dropping Friday 18 via Narolane Records. Following a powerful return to the stage at Dolans recently and a standout performance on The Tommy Tiernan Show, this track is his second release of the year with the label.
Speaking on โThe Observerโ, God Knows says: โThis track is about our current state of the world and how we navigate in it. Itโs really me genuinely observing what is happening around us, namely the hardships globally and having to exhale after a long day of work and having to do it again tomorrow. This is a present, honest reflection of โItโs hard out here man, I feel it tooโ.
Written by Godknows Jonas and his brother Godswill Jonas, produced by MuRli and Mastered by Richard Dowling for Wav Mastering, โThe Observerโ, will be available on Spotify.
Known for his vividly honest lyricism and electrifying energy wherever he sets foot, God Knows has elevated Irish hip-hop to exponential levels.
In 2020, God Knowsโ debut solo EPs โWhoโs Asking? Vol. Iโ and โWhoโs Asking? Vol. IIโ saw him bring together the countryโs most exciting, influential and progressive artists for a project that saw one of Irelandโs foremost music journalist Nialler9 commenting, โThe โWhoโs Asking Remixโ is one of the best things to come out of Irelandโs music scene in years. The heat of it is undeniable.โย Elsewhere, The Quietus wrote that God Knowsย โstands proudly at the helmโย of Irish hip-hop.
As part of Rusangano Family, God Knows was the recipient of the Choice Music Prize for 2016โs โLet The Dead Bury The Deadโ – the first ever hip-hop record to win the prestigious โAlbum of the Yearโ award.
Although God Knows leaned into his mentorship role fully, it was only a matter of time before he was ready to truly step into the spotlight he engineered.ย As one of the two founders of narolane records, God Knows is getting ready for the most prolific period of creativity of his life.
In 2022 God Knows made his narolane debut with the release of โGloryโ, featuring Irish singer Senita. As a collective, narolaneโs creative output conveys their ethos with surety, authenticity and unapologetic ambition. That ethos is to be true to what is right, what is excellent and what is unexpected.
This commitment to excellence has caught the attention of the worldโs most revered cultural commentators and music media, with the NME, NPR, France 24, The Irish Times, The BBC, The Guardian, RTร, The Fader, Vice and The New York Times all turning their attention to this revolutionary collective.
