Coláiste Chiaráin pupils have designs on a more sustainable future

Coláiste Chiaráin students claimed the top prize at the Design A Sustainable Village in Ireland For 2050 awards.

TRANSITION Year students from Coláiste Chiaráin, Croom, claimed the top prize at the Design A Sustainable Village in Ireland For 2050 awards at University of Limerick.

The competition, part of a new initiative by UL’s EPI.STEM (National Research Centre for Stem Education), the Hunt Museum, and the Limerick Education Support Centre, challenged students to design a community-focused, futuristic eco-village for Ireland in 2050.

Schools from across the county took part in the project, designed to give transition year students hands-on experience of what is involved in caring for the environment in a sustainable way.
