THE SUN is out and so is the programme for Riverfest as the annual Shannonside festival comes of age, marking its 21st year.
Limerick City and County Council launched the 2025 festival lineup, which will bring fun, food, and frolics to the city from Friday May 2 to Monday May 5.
From water activities on the mighty River Shannon to the mouth-watering sizzle of the National All-Ireland BBQ Competition, there will be something to whet all appetites.
Festival goers can soar high on the panoramic wheel, dance the night away at the Riverfest Street Party, marvel at the spectacular fireworks display, or take in live music and street performances as this year’s Riverfest promises non-stop excitement.
A handy Riverfest Limerick 2025 events map is available on limerick.ie to help navigate all the fun activities across the weekend.
Mayor of Limerick John Moran is looking forward to the fest, saying: “The May Bank Holiday Weekend belongs to Limerick as we kick off the summer festival season in style.”
“Riverfest brings our community together and showcases Limerick and its majestic river to locals and visitors alike. I invite everyone to join in the 21st anniversary celebrations.”
Not-to-be-missed experiences include riverside revelry at Riverfest HQ as Arthurโs Quay Park transforms into the Riverfestival Village, with street performers, crafts, artisan food stalls, vintage amusements, and live music.
Get the whoosh of the adrenaline freefall and jump from a high tower onto a giant airbag, drool over the waft of delicious BBQ food as the All-Ireland BBQ Competition heats up Howleyโs Quay, or shake a leg at the Regeneron Great Limerick Run before turning eyes to the skies for Riverfest Spectacular Fireworks.
There’s also a circus, Fashionfest, and aerial acrobatics.
ASD Ireland will be providing their mobile sensory unit at Sarsfield House car park (beside Arthurโs Quay Park) from 11-4pm on the Saturday, Sunday, and Monday of the festival, providing a space to relax and escape the city noise for children and adults with autism.
A number of road closures and diversions will be in place to facilitate the safe and smooth running of the festival. Full details can be found on limerick.ie.
