
LIMERICK is set to celebrate the warm sounds of vinyl this Saturday, as the city joins the global celebration of Record Store Day, transforming Steamboat Music into a hub of live performances, exclusive releases, and DJ sets.
Downbeat Records will be hosting a late night After Party at Record Room.
From 9am Steamboat Records, Riverpoint Building on Bishop’s Quay, will be buzzing. Whether you’re a crate-digger, a casual listener, or simply seeking a good time, the schedule promises something for everyone.
Kicking off the live line-up at 12 noon is Shiv, the rising Dublin singer blending soulful vocals with atmospheric R&B and smooth, electronic textures. Recently featured on Other Voices, Shiv is known for her heartfelt lyrics and magnetic stage presence — a must-see for any music lover.
At 1pm, Limerick playwright Mike Finn presents a live reading from his upcoming play Wreckquiem, starring beloved Irish actor Pat Shortt. Expect a sneak peek into one of the most anticipated local productions of the year coming to the Lime Tree Theatre in June..
Later, at 3pm, Cork’s own The Love Buzz take the stage with their signature mix of fuzzy garage rock, psychedelic vibes and punk spirit. Their high-energy performances and infectious hooks have earned them a reputation as one of Ireland’s most exciting young bands.
As the evening rolls in, DJ PRESSPLAYREPEAT joins forces with local percussion maestro BARTYBEATS from 6pm, delivering an electric fusion of rhythm and vinyl that’s bound to get feet moving.
Throughout the day, vinyl DJs will spin carefully selected records.

One of the biggest draws of Record Store Day is the treasure trove of exclusive vinyl releases, and 2025 is no exception. Steamboat Music will feature limited edition records from global superstars such as Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, Black Sabbath, Post Malone, U2, and The Rolling Stones — perfect for collectors and fans alike.
The Party Continues: Downbeat Records Afterparty
Downbeat Records, Wickham Way are hosting their first Record Store Day events.
Expect rare items and gems for their customers with DJs spinning all day. From 11pm, the full Downbeat crew — Frankie Downbeat, Ali Daly, and Hyawneen (Seán) — take over the decks at Record Room for the very first time together.
Expect an eclectic mix of disco, boogie, reggae, soul, world music, and vinyl oddities as the DJs dig deep into their personal stashes to keep the dance floor rockin’ into the early hours. Entry is free.
