Motorcyclist critically injured in road crash

A MAN in his early 30s was critically injured when his motorcycle was involved in a road traffic collision tonight (Wednesday).

The collision occurred in the townland of Clounreask, on the Askeaton to Foynes stretch of the N69, County Limerick.

A major emergency services response is continuing.

According to reliable local sources, a man in his 30s who was riding a motorcycle was left with life—threatening injuries.

A Garda spokeswoman said: “Gardaí in Askeaton are currently at scene of a serious road traffic collision on the N69, Askeaton, that occurred this evening, Wednesday 9th April, 2025.”

“The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place. There are no further details, at this time.”

The Garda spokeswoman said that Garda “investigations are ongoing” into the circumstances of the collision.

Limerick Fine Gael city councillor Adam Teskey said the surrounding community was “in total shock at the devastating events on the N69”.

“My thoughts are obviously with the family, and I’d like to thank the emergency services that attended the scene, the town is in deep shock and sadness tonight,” added Cllr Teskey.
