Three Limerick businesses caught out selling alcohol to minors in Garda test

Gardaí carried out a test purchase operation to combat the sale of alcohol to minors.

GARDAÍ in County Limerick carried out a test purchase operation to combat the sale of alcohol to minors.

The operation was carried out in the Limerick County Community Engagement Area, near Bruff, under the supervision of Sergeant David Callanan, the An Garda Síochána Limerick Facebook page confirmed.

According to Gardaí, of a total of 11 commercial premises were tested during the operation, in which three establishments were confirmed to have failed.

The post showed a number of alcoholic beverages those working with the operation were able to buy.

Gardaí said “enquiries are ongoing” following the operation, which they said aimed to “highlight the prevalence of underage drinking and encourage licensees to be more proactive in seeking identification from their customers”.
