INDEPENDENT councillor John O’Donoghue wanted an update on the status of the Adare Rathkeale district’s road velocity patcher at the March monthly area meeting.
Cllr O’Donoghue was particularly interested in the number of days the patcher was being repaired in 2024 and the costs involved.
He was informed that the velocity patcher operated for 210 days last year.
This, as it turned out, compared favourably with the other rural districts – including Cappamore Kilmallock (202 days) and Newcastle West (222 days).
The patching unit, Cllr O’Donoghue was told, was unavailable for 14 days for planned maintenance and periodic safety inspections and CVRT testing. The meeting heard the cost of repairs was €4,399.
