TLC turns a tidy 10

SHANNONSIDE will be looking spick and span this Good Friday (April 18) as the annual Team Limerick Clean-up (TLC) day of community cleaning action turns the grand old age of 10.

The annual Good Friday clean-up day, first established in 2015 by the JP McManus Benevolent Fund and Limerick City and County Council, has seen communities across the county band together each year with the sole mission of keeping the Treaty clean.

As the big day approaches, the Council, the JP McManus Benevolent Fund, and Mr Binman have put the call out across the county for everyone in Limerick to do their bit.

Last year alone, volunteers managed to collect an impressive 57 tonnes of litter throughout the county, with efforts coming from schools, colleges, sports clubs, Munster Rugby, businesses, charities, nursing homes, and well-known local faces alike.

Speaking ahead of the big day, Mayor John Moran said the Council is thrilled to once again play a pivotal role supporting this great community initiative”.

“I commend the JP McManus Benevolent Fund, Council staff, Mr Binman, and volunteers across the city and county for all they do to make this initiative a cornerstone of community pride and environmental stewardship in Limerick.”

He said that the TLC campaign “aligns perfectly with our vision for a more liveable and desirable Limerick, as outlined in our More for Limerick programme”.

“But it is not just about the 18th of April, I encourage everyone to participate and help make Limerick a cleaner, better place for all every day.”

Team Limerick Clean-Up is a partnership initiative between the JP McManus Benevolent Fund and Limerick City and County Council, endorsed each year by Limerick rugby legend Paul O’Connell. Official partners of the annual campaign include the Limerick Post, the Limerick Leader, I Love Limerick, Elive, Live 95, and Mr Binman.

The deadline for volunteer groups to get involved in TLC10 is April 7. Registrations can be made on teamlimerickcleanup.ie/register or by emailing [email protected].
