Almost 200 complaints to Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman from Limerick last year

THE Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman (FSPO) has published his Overview of Complaints for 2024 with 172 complaints from Limerick residents.

For the second year in a row, the FSPO received over 6,000 complaints concerning financial institutions, insurance companies, and pension providers.

The complaints from Limerick placed the Treaty City amongst the top 10 counties by volume of complaints in Ireland.

The number of complaints made by Limerick residents rose by nine per cent between 2023 and 2024.

The majority of complaints received concerned the banking and insurance sectors.

There were 3,404 banking complaints nationally, accounting for over half of all complaints.

There has been a 12 per cent decline in complaints received in this category from 2023. Complaints nationwide relating to the insurance sector rose by 26 per cent to 1,818.
