ADARE Rathkeale Municipal District councillors have urged the district office to write to the Council’s Finance Director about money they believe should be allocated locally.
A motion from Fine Gael councillor Adam Teskey maintained that, with the approval of 99 units by An Bord Pleanála in Deerpark, Adare, and given that a balance of €9.1million is now due to the local authority, that this funding be allocated to the Adare Rathkeale district.
In response, Director of Finance Matthew White explained that the net proceeds of funding from land sales is ring-fenced in the capital account for the acquisition of strategic asset purchases for the Council in general.
“The future use of this fund is not pre-determined for any municipal/metropolitan district,” he said.
