
SHANNON Airport has announced welcome news for summer holidaymakers looking to travel to exciting destinations abroad this year.
Shannon Airport Group announced an increase of 190,000 seats for summer routes, an 11 per cent increase on 2024 figures, along with two new services flying out of Shannon.
The new services include a twice-weekly trip to the Portuguese island of Madeira โ which took its maiden flight this past Monday (March 31) โ and a new charter service to Palma in Spain.
This summer, a spokesperson said, the airport will operate 36 services to 11 countries, including the USA, the UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Greece, Malta, and more.
โThis expansion aims to enhance travel options for passengers seeking city escapes and holiday breaks across Europe, the UK, and the USA,โ a spokesperson for the Shannon Airport Group told the Limerick Post.
โOverall, Shannon Airport will see an 11 per cent increase in summer 2025 services compared to 2024, including 16 extra weekly departures with Ryanair to popular locations like Faro, Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona, Edinburgh, and Porto.โ
Commenting following the announcement of the airport’s summer 2025 schedule, Mary Considine, CEO of the Shannon Airport Group said: โWe are anticipating a bustling summer with 332 weekly flights on our 36 services, including new routes to Madeira with Ryanair and Palma with TUI.โ
