LIMERICK singer-songwriter Laura Duff has announced the release of her latest single, 21, the second track from her highly anticipated debut album, Sea Legs, set for release in May 2025.
Recorded during an extensive 12-month session in Knockaderry, Co. Limerick, with producer Mícheál Keating, 21 delves into the deeply personal themes that shape Sea Legs. The track offers an honest exploration of grief, the physicality of loss, and the complexities of family relationships in the aftermath of tragedy.
“21 is one of those songs that seemed to just arrive,” Duff explains. “It feels like a communication with loss, exploring the passage of time and the distance that creates when we lose a loved one. It looks at the tricks our brains can play on us in navigating grief, but also what grounds and centres us.”
The creation of Sea Legs has been a profoundly personal journey for Duff. “I feel very lucky to be collaborating with and surrounded by close friends in bringing each element of this album to life. It’s taken time to get to this point, but we needed to allow for that time and space. I’m excited to share the work—I hope it resonates with those who hear it.”
21 was recorded, produced, and mixed by Mícheál Keating, with mastering by Richard Dowling. Music was composed by Laura Duff, Mícheál Keating, JJ Lee, and Christopher O’Sullivan, with lyrics by Laura Duff.
