QUESTIONS have been asked of the Council in relation to housing delays at Speaker’s Corner.
“These properties consisting of 36 units, 50 per cent will be cost rental, 20 per cent age friendly, 30 per cent social housing, are much needed in Limerick,” said Cllr Catherine Slattery.
The Fianna Fáil representative was informed at this month’s Metropolitan District meeting that the Speaker’s Corner scheme, consisting of 19 cost rental units and 17 elderly/rightsizing units, is ready to start on site in the coming weeks.
“A contractor has been appointed and have secured a compound close by. Funders are also on board to facilitate drawdowns,” the Council explained.

The expected completion is targeted for Q4 2026.
