ONLY one landowner has been prosecuted by Limerick City and County Council over the last two years for not maintaining their hedgerows.
This was the response to a question from Fine Gael councillor Adam Teskey at the March Adare-Rathkeale Municipal District meeting.
Cllr Teskey asked how many people have been prosecuted or legal action enforced upon landowners who do not cut or maintain there hedgerows by the local authority. He also asked for a breakdown of each district in the past 24 months.
With one landowner in the Metropolitan District prosecuted, he was informed that the Adare Rathkeale office issued 605 letters to landowners advising them of their responsibilities in 2023 and 2024.
