LABOUR Party councillor Joe Leddin has quizzed the Council on progress on the upgrade of the playground in Dooradoyle adjacent to the Crescent Shopping Centre, in partnership with Clancourt Ltd.

Cllr Leddin was informed at this month’s Metropolitan District meeting that discussions have now taken place, in particular for inclusive play items.

The Council said that Clancourt Ltd have engaged with a playground company in relation to the project and received a cost estimate of €34,729 inclusive of VAT for a number of play items. “In order to progress the project further, Clancourt Ltd have requested financial assistance up to a maximum of 50 per cent from the Council.

No funding source has been identified to date,” said Senior Engineer Aidan Finn.
