EVERYTHING is coming up roses in Limerick this month, as young women from across the county are invited to come forward as possible representatives in the renowned Rose of Tralee Festival this August.
The Limerick Rose selection night will take place on May 18 at the Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel and Spa in Adare.
Organisers say the selection only comes around every two years, making this the last chance for local ladies to enter until 2027.
Suzan O’Gara, Rose of Tralee coordinator, said that “we encourage any woman aged 18 to 29 with an Irish heritage who are interested in taking part to simply apply”.
“I can understand completely that there may be natural underlying nerves or a shyness in people to put themselves in for the event, but I always say once you’ve sent the application in – the hardest part is over – and even that part is not hard,” she said.
“From there on out it is simply an adventure, where you can really appreciate your county and the goodness of people within it and celebrate yourself and the young women alongside you.
“You will never experience anything like it anywhere else again,” Suzan said.
The successful Rose, to be named on May 18, will be taking up the crown from Limerick’s reigning Rose Molli-Ann O’Halloran, who, during her tenue, has been a voice for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Aspergers.
To apply, hopeful participants can log on to the Rose of Tralee website on roseoftralee.ie.
