
GARDAÍ appealed for witnesses following a road crash on the outskirts of Limerick City which left a pedestrian seriously injured overnight.
The collision occurred at Milltown, near Ballysimon, shortly after midnight on Wednesday (March 12).
It is understood that the car was a Ford Focus being driven by a woman in her 30s. The pedestrian was left with serious injuries following the crash.
Motorists are advised that both lanes of the N24 on approach to the scene are closed.
Gardaí said emergency services were alerted to the collision “between a car and a pedestrian on the N24 at Milltown at approximately 12.10am”.
“The male pedestrian was transferred by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of serious injuries. The female driver was conveyed to hospital as a precaution.”
The N24 has been closed in both directions “to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators”.
Appealing for witnesses to come forward, Gardaí said: “Any road users who may have camera footage (including dashcam) and were travelling in the area between 11.30pm and 12.30am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.”
