A TOP young farming student from Limerick has been awarded the John Feely Foundation Scholarship.

The accolade was presented to Tommy Ryan, who was accompanied by his brother Michael, along with a cheque for โ‚ฌ1,500, by ICMSA president Denis Drennan.

The young Doon scholar was one of four recipients of this yearโ€™s award, in which Mr Drennan said had been a stiff competition with outstanding applicants.

โ€œThe standard weโ€™re seeing in the young people coming through bodes well for the sector: theyโ€™re technically very strong and environmentally aware, theyโ€™re also committed to building on the standards already achieved,โ€ Mr Drennan said.
