SINN Fรฉin councillor PJ Carey has called for immediate action to be taken on the road leading to Killeenavere Quarry at Dromkeen.
At Februaryโs monthly Cappamore-Kilmallock District meeting, Cllr Carey was informed that the Council has been monitoring all public roads approaching the waste disposal site since its activities intensified in recent years.
Senior Executive Engineer for the District, Trevor McKechnie, told Council members that it was agreed that the operator ensure that a road sweeper was in place full-time, when waste was being delivered.
This instruction, he said, has been adhered to and there has been no significant issues with respect to the maintenance of the public roads.
โThe waste disposal site operator has, however, in recent weeks been asked to cease operations temporarily, so as to carry out improvements to their own access road leading up to the old quarry,โ Mr McKechnie concluded.
