
THESE are exciting times for Scoil Mhuire agus Íde of Newcastle West, who following on from brilliant provincial wins will be involved in the All-Ireland Hurling and Ladies’ Football Championships over the next couple of weekends.
First up the hurling side run up against St Patrick’s High School (Armagh).
This team is under the joint management of Jer Moroney of Tournafulla and Patrickswell’s Kevin O’Brien, while county under-20 panellist Diarmuid Lyons (Newcastle West) has proven to be an outstanding captain.
Fresh from a training session under two-time Footballer of the Year David Clifford, the ladies’ side meet with Ballyhaunis Community Schools (Mayo) the following weekend.
The team is under the joint guidance of Ciara Brosnan and Evan Murphy, while the captaincy is shared by twin sisters Isabelle and Olive O’Brien, Feohanagh Castlemahon.
