LIMERICK Sinn Féin TD Maurice Quinlivan is of the opinion that the last government did not treat mental health issues with the urgency needed.
He confessed in the Dáil that he is not at all persuaded that the new government will do any better.
“Mental health remains an under-resourced area of our health system,” Deputy Quinlivan insisted.
“We in Limerick are fortunate to have so many fabulous support groups that offer their time and their energy, often voluntarily, to the cause of mental health. The previous Government, made up of the two parties opposite, did not treat mental health issues with the urgency needed and I remain to be convinced that this government will be any different.”
