AN abandoned horse was seized by Limerick City and County Council this past week in the Castleconnell area.
According to the local authority, a four-year-old black female horse was seized from Rivers in Castleconnell on February 16.
This comes following the seizure of six other abandoned horses earlier this month, including four in the Thomondgate area and two in the area of Reens in Ardagh.
Abandoned horses seized by the local authority are held for five days and, if not claimed by their owner or keeper, are re-homed to shelters outside of Limerick in accordance with the 1996 Control of Horses Act.
