LIMERICK moved into possible promotion territory from Division Four of the National Football League with a quality 1-17 to 0-13 weekend defeat of Carlow at Dr Cullen Park.

Jimmy Lee’s side were the better side for the most part, and good scoring contributions came from James Naughton (1-6) and Josh Ryan (0-4).

The win, however, may have come with an injury cost after captain Cillian Fahy was forced off after just 15 minutes.

On the plus side, Danny Neville returned after a long lay-off.
