ULTRA successful Ken McDonald secured a magnificent gold at the World Indoor Rowing Championships last weekend.
McDonald, who is from Limerick and rows for Shannon Rowing Club, was the winner in the Over-50 section.
His winning time for the 500m event broke his own previous record from an earlier round.
“I’m delighted, truly delighted to have claimed gold,” he said.
“This was a first ever virtutal staging of the Championships. Obviously, there were rowers from across the globe and personally I found it very stressful due to the technology required to stay connected and uploading of race videos and data.”
McDonald concluded: “Still it’s great to get the result, a reward for training twice a day for months on end and having to make the weight at 75kg.”
