Safer routes to class for Caherconlish National School

Pupils in the County Limerick school will now be in a position to walk, wheel, scoot, or cycle to and from the classroom in a much safer manner following the completion of SRTS infrastructure outside their school gates.

CAHERCONLISH National School have launched their Safe Routes to School (SFRS) scheme with the help of Mayor John Moran, who partook in an organised ‘Park and Stride’ event with a number of the 106 pupils at the school.

Pupils in the County Limerick school will now be in a position to walk, wheel, scoot, or cycle to and from the classroom in a much safer manner following the completion of SRTS infrastructure outside their school gates.

The project has been delivered by Limerick City and County Council’s Active Travel team and funded by the National Transport Authority.

The works include a raised pedestrian crossing on High Street, build outs for traffic calming purposes, junction tightening at Hillview Drive, and footpath widening.
