The store is located off the Groody Road, beside the Limerick Educate Together Secondary School and the new Bons Secours Hospital, which is still under construction.

Limerick Ladies Gaelic footballer Yvonne Lee will join the teamย  to cut the ribbon and officially open the new store. Along with opening-day entertainment and middle aisle offers, early bird shoppers first in the queue will receive complimentary Lidl vouchers to spend in-store.

Local charity Milford Hospice will also benefit from a donation of โ‚ฌ1,000 in Lidl vouchers from the Ballysimon store team.

The new Lidl store boasts a large sales floor, self-service and operator check outs, two Deposit Return Scheme machines, as well as an in-store bakery and off licence. Externally, the store benefits from regenerative landscaping and a spacious customer car park with dedicated EV charging spaces.

The Ballysimon store design incorporates an ISO 50001-certified energy management system, high performing energy efficient technologies, dedicated EV charging spaces, and solar panels.

Speaking ahead of the new store opening James Purcell, regional property director for Lidl Ireland, said: “We’re delighted to announce that we will open our doors to the Ballysimon community.”

“This store has been highly anticipated by the local community and their ongoing support for the project at every stage has been extremely positive and very much appreciated.”

Limerick LGFA player Yvonne Lee added: “I’m excited to open Lidl’s new store in Limerick and meet shoppers on opening day. Lidl has been a great partner to LGFA for years, and it’s fantastic to see them investing more in our community.”
