Mayor John Moran was welcomed by a very enthusiastic school community in Banogue National School recently as he officially opened two new classrooms.
The extension to the school was blessed by parish priest and Chairperson of the board of management Canon William Fitzmaurice and includes one mainstream classroom and one autism classroom.
Other local representatives in attendance included Minister Patrick O’Donovan, Richard O’Donoghue TD and Councillor John O’Donoghue. Both Richard and John are past pupils of the school.
Mayor Moran during his speech spoke of how the school extension would ensure that “all kids are nurtured fairly”.
The audience of children, parents, and parishioners enjoyed the singing of the school choir and the refreshments provided by the Parents’ Council as they celebrated this historic day.
The school is currently taking enrolments for September 2025 and an open evening will take place on Thursday February 13 at 5.30 pm.
