A MAN has died following a tragic crash in the town of Rathkeale, west County Limerick, on Tuesday night (February 18).
It is understood the man, aged in his 60s, was found in a serious condition in a car in Rathkeale, and Gardaí are investigating a number of lines of enquiry.
One line of enquires includes that the man may have suffered a medical emergency while behind the wheel of the car.
It does not appear that any other vehicle was involved in the fatal crash.
A Garda spokeswoman said Gardaí were “alerted to a fatal road traffic incident that occurred on Lower Main Street, Rathkeale, County Limerick, on the night of Tuesday 18th February, 2025”.
“At approximately 10pm, Gardaí assisted emergency services at the scene. A man, aged in his 60s, was removed from the scene to University Hospital Limerick where he was pronounced deceased.”
The Garda spokeswoman explained that “a post mortem examination will take place in due course”, and said that no other injuries were reported from the incident.
She added that “investigations are ongoing” into the fatality.
