€39 million announced for Limerick roads

Limerick was awarded a €39million slice of a €713m nationwide funding round for the development of regional and local roads.

LIMERICK has been awarded a €39million slice of a €713m nationwide funding announcement for the development of regional and local roads.

Projects included in the funding scheme locally, according to Transport Minister Darragh O’Brien, will include the Coonagh to Knockalisheen Distributor Road, the Shannon Crossing, and the Killaloe Bypass Project.

Limerick TD Patrick O’Donovan described the announcement as an “essential investment that will have a huge impact for towns, villages, and communities all over Limerick”.

Of the €38,939,050 funding for Limerick, €16.9m was allotted for restoration improvement and maintenance on roads, along with €862,000 for bridge rehabilitation, €11.6m for strategic regional and local roads, €778,500 for drainage works, €461,500 for speed limit review signs, and €635,000 for climate change adaption and resilience works.
