EMERGiNG from the vibrant South London music scene, Honeyglaze is the genre-blurring trio of vocalist and guitarist Anouska Sokolow, bassist Tim Curtis, and drummer Yuri Shibuichi. The band formed almost by chance—meeting properly for the first time just days before an impromptu near-residency at Brixton’s famed venue, The Windmill.
Their journey took a major turn when a stripped-down live session recorded in a friend’s garage for ‘FarmFest 2020’ caught the attention of producer Dan Carey and his Speedy Wunderground label. Working with Carey, Honeyglaze embraced a world of analogue recording, unconventional instruments, and boundless creative exploration.
Their self-titled debut album, Honeyglaze, is a deeply personal yet universally resonant collection of songs that weave together themes of self-doubt, love, and the everyday moments that shape us. Sokolow’s intimate lyrics, Curtis’s melodic basslines, and Shibuichi’s subtle, expressive drumming combine to create an evocative sound that is both melancholic and dryly humorous.
Blending folk, indie, and art-rock influences, Honeyglaze refuse to be confined to a single style – the trio are thriving in the space between introspection and communal artistry. Honeyglaze plays Dolans this Wednesday February 19.
