Gardai recover €200,000 worth of cocaine in car, man arrested

A man was arrested, today Friday, after Gardaí recovered an estimated €200,000 worth of cocaine in Co Limerick.
The drugs haul was seized after Gardaí stopped and searched a car on the N20 Limerick Cork road, near Croom, Co Limerick.
Gardaí attached to the Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit swooped on the car at the Croom Bypass, on the outskirts of Limerick City, around 4.30pm.
The male driver, believed to be aged in his 40s, was arrested at the scene.
The planned Garda operation was tasked as part of ongoing Garda measures aimed at tackling the activities of individuals involved in serious levels of drug dealing in the Limerick region.
The man was being questioned at Henry Street Garda Station, Limerick City, under Section 2 of the (Criminal Justice) Drug Trafficking Act, which allows Gardaí question suspects for up to seven days before either releasing or charging them.
Gardaí conducted a follow up search in an area of county Limerick however, nothing of evidential value was found at this location.
