A NEW course designed to equip mechanics with the skills needed to repair electric vehicles (EVs) has launched in Limerick.

The EV Technology programme was delivered by TUS and Shannon Chamber over 10 weeks online and at the TUS Coonagh campus, covering topics such as powertrains, charging systems, and European electrical safety standards.

On the back of the success of the first course, it will run again in September.

Shannon Chamber Skillnet manager Alan Kelly said that “equipping motor mechanics with the skills necessary to diagnose and repair high-voltage electric vehicle systems…complements the work being doing via the Mid-West Sustainability Network”.
