Adjusting brightness of lights at Killoughteen school would compromise safety of pedestrians

INDEPENDENT councillor Jerome Scanlan has called for the road lighting at Killoughteen school to be adjusted and placed on a timer to limit its level of glare and intrusiveness on neighbouring residential properties.

Cllr Scanlan made the call to Limerick City and County Council at the January meeting of members of the Newcastle West district.

Cllr Scanlan was informed that the issue has been highlighted in the past and an investigation into whether the lights could be dimmed found that any effort to do so would compromise the safety of pedestrians crossing the road at night.
